The Inter-Academic Athletic League Directors of Athletics named 13 student-athletes as recipients of the annual Inter-Ac AD’s awards. The AD’s Award is presented annually to a senior girl and/or senior boy who has been a multi-sport varsity athlete and has exemplified dedication to their team and school. Recipients are considered to be outstanding representatives of the Inter-Ac League in sportsmanship and leadership.
The AD’s Award began as the Willard Award in 1997 and from 1997-2010 the award recognized accomplished three sport athletes within the Girls Inter-Ac League. After the Boys and Girls’ Leagues merged in 2013, the award became the AD’s Award. Boys were first recognized with this award in 2019.

My EA experience was so special because I was able to participate on two different teams that served as two different families that guided my positive and fun experience. Between the coaching staff of each team and the variety of people that I have on the teams over the past few years, EA has taught me so many life lessons and given me so many memories that I will have for the rest of my life. I am so grateful to have been able to be a part of this for the past four years. -Rebecca Block
Rebecca has been the single hardest worker I have coached during my time at Episcopal Academy. Rebecca's commitment to her teammates and willingness to always make the unselfish play was special for how individually talented she is. Her leadership help drive her teammates to always give it their all, and to lead by example on and off the field. Her impact on the program over the past 4 years was very special, her impact on the program for years to come is what I and many future episcopal academy field hockey players can thank her for the most. -Paul Zelenak, Field Hockey
Rebecca Block is energy personified. Whether it’s an early morning practice or an off-day session, she shows up with an enthusiasm that immediately lifts the entire pool deck. Her positivity and consistency have helped shape the culture of our team in a meaningful way.
Becky’s high energy and genuine love for the sport elevate those around her every single day. She leads not just through her performance in the water, but through her attitude, effort, and the way she supports her teammates.
It is no surprise that she earned our team’s Mind, Body, and Spirit Prize this season—an honor given to the swimmer who best exemplifies excellence in the classroom, athletic achievement, and outstanding character and sportsmanship. Rebecca embodies all of these qualities and represents our program at the highest level. -Brian Kline, Swimming & Diving

I am so honored and excited to be a recipient of the Athletic Director award this year. As a three-sport varsity athlete for all four years of high school, athletics have become a huge part of my life, and something that I pride myself on daily. Competing in the Inter-Ac has played a pivotal role in my development and helped me become the athlete and individual I am today. The competitiveness in the Inter-Ac, present at every game and meet, pushes me to improve every day, which is something I am truly lucky to be part of. Penn Charter athletics has taught me lessons I will carry far beyond my high school years, including teamwork, leadership, resilience, and determination. Playing sports at the varsity level at PC has single-handedly molded my character, and I am grateful for the community I get to be part of through athletics. – Harbor Campbell
At Penn Charter, we strive to teach students how to live lives that make a difference, and Harbor exemplifies this ideal. Her exceptional work ethic, positivity, and determination allow her to lead by example and build a strong sense of community around her. Both students and teachers/coaches look to Harbor as a mentor and role model, a responsibility she carries with grace. On every team she joins, Harbor makes a difference—not only through her high level of skill, but through her deep commitment to her teammates. She knows when to lead and when to support, when to speak and when to listen. Harbor is a true leader. -Rachel Dyer, Field Hockey
As Harbors swim coach, I had the privilege of watching her step into a tremendous leadership role during her senior year. She consistently led by example, brought great energy to our team, and was a major point contributor in the pool. Her competitive drive and team-first mentality made a lasting impact with our PC Swim & Dive family. It’s no surprise she’ll be continuing her athletic career at the Division I level in lacrosse, and we are all excited to see what Harbor accomplishes this coming lacrosse season and her next four years at Loyola. -Crystal Keelan, Swimming
Harbor is the definition of a leader. She is accountable and her work ethic is second to none. She shows up no matter what for her teammates at all times. On top of her amazing leadership skills she is a very talented lacrosse player. She has great hands, good IQ and is the quarterback of our team. She is going to do amazing things at Loyola next year. -Colleen Kelly, Lacrosse
Dominic Comitale - William Penn Charter School

Being a three-sport varsity athlete in the Inter-Ac and being nominated for the Athletic Director’s Award is something I’m very grateful for. Playing football, basketball, and lacrosse has given me the chance to compete with a physical and aggressive mindset while constantly pushing myself to improve. My coaches have had a huge impact on me, always challenging me to work harder, stay disciplined, and be a better leader. They’ve pushed me to grow not just as an athlete, but as a person. The experiences I’ve had through Penn Charter athletics, facing challenges, competing with my teammates, and learning from both success and adversity are lessons that will stay with me long after high school. -Dominic Comitale
It is a privilege to recognize a student-athlete who truly embodies the "throwback" spirit of high school sports. While many specialize in a single lane, Dom Comitale has thrived as a three-sport varsity athlete, navigating three distinct roles with grace, toughness, and an unwavering commitment to the team.
On the football field, he was the ultimate "glue" player. He stepped into every role asked of him without hesitation, putting the needs of the team above personal statistics. What stood out most, however, was his temperament. No matter the score or the stakes, he remained unshakeable. He was the first to cheer for a teammate’s success and a huge source of encouragement for our younger players, ensuring that the culture of the team remained positive and focused.
As the seasons changed, so did Dom’s responsibilities. It was great getting to see Dom from the stands during the basketball season. Dom transitioned from a versatile contributor to a foundational leader on the court. On a roster filled with underclassmen, he often found himself as the lone senior on the court, surrounded by four freshmen and sophomores. In those high-pressure moments, he was counted on to deliver and was never shy in big moments.
Whether he is filling a gap on the football field or carrying the leadership load on the basketball court or lacrosse field, his impact is defined by selflessness and composure. He represents the very best of what it means to be a multi-sport athlete - versatile, resilient, and always playing for the name on the front of the jersey. -CJ Yespelkis, Football
Dom, aka DC, is one of the most impressive young men I’ve had the privilege to coach. His athletic versatility makes him a natural choice for this award but what truly sets him apart is his work ethic and the way he cares for his teammates and the Penn Charter community. His grit, toughness and presence has left a lasting mark on our program and he will greatly be missed. Congrats, Dom! -Brandon Williams, Basketball
If you were to ask any player, coach, or watcher of lacrosse who the toughest guys are on the field, they would tell you that it's the short stick defensive middies. It's a thankless position that gets dodged constantly, has to sprint all over the place in the clear, and literally has a 3 foot disadvantage compared to the long stick defensive players. In a world of tough as nails SSDMs, I would argue that Dom Comitale is the toughest of the tough guys.
Dom is a guy who embraces the grind. He does not shy away from the inherent difficulties of his position... if anything, he embraces them. Every time a guy squares up to dodge against him, you can see Dom's eyes light up. Every step is an absolute battle, and Dom has a relentless desire to get the best of every offensive player. While some guys may tire out after a couple of dodges against them, Dom gets even more hungry. There are times that we have to drag him off the field, and even then, he's ready to go right back on. That kind of heart and intensity is not something that can be taught, and it's extremely rare to see in a high school player.
I could not be more proud of Dom, and I cannot think of someone more deserving. While I am only his lacrosse coach, in watching his football and basketball games, he plays the exact same way. He is an incredible "lead by example" guy, constantly doing everything that he can to help his team. I can't wait to see what he accomplishes in his senior lacrosse season. Conor Resch, Lacrosse
Ben Creighton: Germantown Academy
Sports Played: Soccer © / Ice Hockey © / Lacrosse ©
College Attending: Boston University
When I first joined the ice hockey team as a freshman, it had only been my fourth time ever putting on ice skates. As nervous as I was about stepping onto the ice and watching my peers skate around me with ease, I knew I had made the right decision. From the beginning, the seniors welcomed me and treated me as if I had been playing my entire life. The encouragement and support they provided allowed me to gain confidence and grow as a player. This treatment helped me understand what it truly meant to be part of a team. A team is not just a group of people who play the same sport together, but a family that supports, uplifts, and encourages one another, no matter the adversity. Through my tight schedule of soccer, ice hockey, and lacrosse, I have been able to apply this understanding. As I progressed, I realized that being a student athlete is more than just playing a sport while going to school. I learned that creating a strong schedule for my schoolwork helped me focus on my team during practices and games. Throughout my time at Germantown Academy, I also came to understand what a strong team culture means. Being able to play three different sports allowed me to draw on different aspects of each to support others. After playing ice hockey for three years, I learned how beneficial a locker room environment is for a team. During my senior year of soccer, I gained access to a locker room for our team and immediately saw improvements in our team culture. In my four years of high school, I have been told by numerous teachers, mentors, and parents that I should drop one of my sports, yet I persisted, and I would not have it any other way. -Ben Creighton
It's not Ben. It's Creighton. It always has been. Since he was little. However, he is no longer little. He has grown from a strong willed, exuberant, and sometimes impetuous child, into a strong young man who leads from the front with maximum effort. He asked the coaching staff to change how they did things and demanded the best of his peers with the standards he set. He didn't take plays off. He didn't ask for more than what he was willing to give, which was everything each time he stepped onto the field. He did all he could to counsel behind the scenes, helping younger players navigate the challenges they faced on and off the field. He helped create family by doing the right thing even when it would be easier not to. He has helped his peers. He has helped his coaches. Most of all he has helped the team. -Kurt Wetzel, Soccer
Ben Creighton is one of the most selfless players I've had the privilege of coaching at any level. He wasn't born to be a hockey player, but he was born to be a leader. Ben was like having an extra coach, pushing teammates on the ice to achieve more, cajoling them in the weight room on sleepy mornings, and looking out to make sure our youngest players were included in every facet of our team. Ben worked incredibly hard to become a better hockey player and his steady and predictable presence earned him increased playing time as the season went along, used in key situations to help us achieve our goals. We're really going to miss Ben, but his contributions will echo through the hockey program for at least the next five years with the eighth graders he welcomed and showed the way. -Frank Seravalli, Ice Hockey
Ben Creighton is a kid that would fit on any team in any sport. He is selfless on the field- willing to take on any role that is asked of him. He’s also tough as nails and willing to lay his body on the line to gain an advantage for his team.
Ben started on the varsity lacrosse team his sophomore season, but things took a turn when he tore a ligament in his knee. His injury, which was suffered after the second game, required surgery and he was forced to sit out the remainder of the season. Even though he couldn’t play, he was back at practice two days after his surgery and didn’t miss one for the remainder of the season. Ben didn’t let his injury take his spirit away from the team. During his junior year, he was our top defenseman and covered the opposing team’s best offensive player. He routinely shut down players committed to play at power D1 programs and led our team in caused turnovers.
Ben is as tough of a player as you can be on the field, but he is kind and compassionate off the field. He always has a smile on his face and, no matter how he is feeling, he carries himself with a joyful presence that is contagious. His willingness to do anything asked of him on the field carries over to how he interacts with his teammates and coaches off the field. Ben is always willing to do all he can for others. That is why he is a terrific teammate. Billy McKinney, Lacrosse
Nina Heverin-Alvarado - The Baldwin School
Sports Played: Indoor Track & Field © / Outdoor Track & Field ©
College Attending: Washington University in St. Louis - Track & Field
When I first joined the Baldwin Indoor Track as a freshman, I wasn’t aware of the huge impact this team would have on me. At first I was nervous to be in an entirely new environment with people more experienced in the sport than I was. I soon realized that the track team at Baldwin is an extremely supportive and uplifting environment no matter your level of experience. Track can often be thought of as an individual sport. Being part of the Baldwin Indoor and Outdoor Track Team has taught me that track is a team sport. Each member encourages each other through hard waterfall workouts, and cheers on their teammates at the top of their lungs at our meets.
At a track meet last year, I had to run the 400m in a heat all by myself which was not a fun experience. But what I remember most from the track meet is not the race, it's how my teammates made me feel. After I ran, they all came to meet me by the start line to high five me. Then we all huddled together under a blanket to fight off the cold while watching other Baldwin track members compete in their races. The kindness and encouragement my teammates showed me that day transformed an unpleasant meet into one of my favorite track memories.
In addition to giving me a wonderful community, running track at Baldwin has shaped me into the student-athlete I am today. It has taught me how to manage my school work and still perform well at practice and meets. I’ve also learned that doing hard things, like running at club practice right after a long school practice or getting up in a race after falling, are actually the experiences that allow you to grow the most. On the WashU track team next year, I will use the lessons I have learned from Baldwin Athletics to continue growing as a runner and a person. -Nina Heverin-Alvarado
Nina Heverin-Alvarado has been a cornerstone of Baldwin’s track and field program throughout her four years on the team. A dedicated senior captain, Nina has consistently demonstrated what it means to lead with integrity, positivity, and commitment. She brings the same enthusiasm and focus to every practice and meet, and she is always one of the first to support younger teammates - whether that means offering encouragement before a race, sharing advice, or simply leading by example.
Nina’s impact on the program is reflected not only in her leadership, but also in her remarkable performances. Over the course of her career at Baldwin, she has set multiple school records, including the triple jump, high jump, and the 800 meters during the indoor season, as well as the triple jump during the spring track season. This winter she continued to raise the bar, consistently PRing in the 800 meters, with her times earning her a scholarship at the Colgate Games and breaking Baldwin’s indoor school record.
Beyond the records and accolades, Nina has helped shape the culture of the team through her dedication, work ethic, and genuine care for her teammates. She is someone who sets ambitious goals for herself and then puts in the work to achieve them, inspiring others to do the same. With the spring season still ahead, there is every reason to believe that Nina’s list of accomplishments - and Baldwin’s record board - will continue to grow. Kate Leibrand, Track & Field
Abaas Hunter - Episcopal Academy

College Attending: University of North Carolina – Track & Field
My experience at EA has been incredibly memorable through the strong academics and the opportunity to truly embody the role of a student-athlete. The facilities, our coaching staff, and the athletic director all play a huge role in making sure athletics run smoothly here, and I’m really grateful to be guided by such well-rounded people. Athletics has shaped who I am today, with my coaches helping me improve my mechanics while also supporting me through the college recruiting process, which helped me earn the opportunity to continue training and competing at the University of North Carolina. I’m also very lucky that my head track coach is my dean, because it means I have someone who supports me both on and off the track and someone I know I can lean on whenever I need it. Overall, my time at EA has been very memorable, and I’ll carry the lessons I’ve learned here into my everyday life. Even though I’ve only been here since freshman year, I’ve met so many great people and grown a lot, and sometimes I wish I had the chance to come here even earlier. -Abaas Hunter
Abaas Hunter began to make an impact on our school right away during his freshman year and never stopped. During the indoor season of 9th grade, he broke 3 school records, scored at the PTFCA Championship, and was part of the National Champion DMR team. From there, his impact and list of accomplishments grew, exponentially. Beyond the records and medals, what you don't see is the amount of work Abaas puts in on and off the track. He trains harder than anyone, he spends countless hours watching film, he challenges himself in the classroom, and he cares about the legacy he leaves behind. He leads by example and sets the standard for others to follow. Other athletes, including those outside of our own program, look up to Abaas. Given all he has achieved, it's no wonder why. -Zach Richards, Track & Field

Being named as the Haverford School recipient of the Inter-Ac League's Athletic Director Award is a true honor. I am beyond grateful, as it shows that my work and dedication to both my academics and athletics have paid off. Congratulations to Cole on winning the Inter-AC Athletic Director's Award, this is well deserved. In today's sporting culture, committing to three sports all through high school is remarkable. This award rewards a dedicated high school sports experience and shows Cole's true character. -Brendan Dawson, Lacrosse
Maggie Luviano - Germantown Academy
Sports Played: Soccer © / Lacrosse ©
College Attending :Penn State University - Lacrosse
Playing sports at GA has been one of the most influential experiences in my high school journey. I remember from the very beginning coming in as a freshman and admiring the captains and leaders on both the girl's lacrosse and soccer teams. I quickly realized that there was more to sports than just playing; it was about building bonds with my teammates that would last a lifetime. I was lucky enough to host the soccer team during my senior year for a sleepover. This was a tradition that has been going on for many years, and I made sure to keep that going when I became captain. I specifically remember all of the laughter that filled the basement that night, which created a stronger bond for the team. Another factor that has strengthened the bond among my teammates is the level of competition in the Inter-ac. Facing some of the best athletes in the country demands both high performance and deep trust in one another that you can't find in many other places. It forced me to push myself and my teammates but also made us show up for each other when times were tough. One of the experiences that shaped me most was having my older sister on the lacrosse team during my freshman and sophomore year. She was not only a role model on the field, but someone who always lifted others up and made sure the environment was positive and supportive. When I became a junior it was my turn to lead, I carried the lessons she taught me into both soccer and lacrosse, striving to build that same kind of culture. A culture that focused not just on success during games, but also on genuine connections with every girl off the field as well. GA sports gave me discipline, confidence, relationships, and memories that will last a lifetime and I will be forever indebted to the program. -Maggie Luviano
From the first moment she stepped on the soccer field, everyone knew Maggie Luviano would be special. She has unparalleled speed, unmatched physicality, and a competitive streak to rival anyone I've ever coached. She has been the heart and soul of our defense for the past two years, and we've been all the better for having her - both as a player and as a leader. Athletically, Maggie can do anything, perhaps more importantly though, she is the kind of player who leads by example. She works through every drill, finishes every play, and never - ever - quits on her team or her teammates. Moreover, Maggie, more than any other player, has helped us turn the corner from a moderately competitive squad to a team that can compete with the best teams in the league. -Chris Nelson, Soccer
Maggie Luviano is the kind of athlete every coach hopes to have in their program. She is someone who does the little things when no one is watching—the extra effort, the attention to detail, the quiet moments of accountability that ultimately define greatness. She leads by example in everything she does, bringing a level of consistency, discipline, and purpose that sets the tone for everyone around her. Maggie holds our team to a very high standard because it’s the same standard she brings herself every single day. What makes Maggie even more special is her willingness to do whatever the team needs. She has the ability to take over a game as a midfielder, a role she hasn't typically played, but one she stepped into for our program without hesitation because it’s where she was needed most. That selflessness, paired with her competitive drive and natural ability, is what separates her. Her leadership has been felt across every corner of our program. As a two-year captain for our team and a captain on the soccer field as well, Maggie has consistently shown what it means to lead. While I’m not her soccer coach, it’s impossible not to notice the same effort, intensity, and work ethic shine through there too—you can tell she is a truly gifted athlete but she is far more than just an athlete. Maggie is a great teammate who lifts those around her. She is someone others trust, rely on, and look up to. She is a great sister, a great friend, and someone who has made a lasting impact on this program. Her presence, her energy, and her leadership will be deeply missed next year.
We are incredibly proud of Maggie as she continues her lacrosse career at Penn State, and we know she will bring the same level of excellence there that she has brought to us every day.
Maggie, congratulations on earning the AD Award. We are so proud of you! -Colleen Dawson, Lacrosse

Her work ethic and commitment to the team made a lasting impact, and she helped set the standard that younger athletes will strive to follow. Malvern Prep has been the best decision in my life. There is no other school that prepares a young man for life better than Malvern Prep does. From the first day I stepped on campus to now I have been given numerous opportunities to set myself apart from the rest. The support I have been given from my coaches, classmates, and teammates has built me not only as a player, but as a man. I am so proud to be a part of the Malvern Prep community and cannot wait to see what’s to come. -Daniel Riely
Danny is a respected Leader of his class. As a varsity lacrosse member since his Freshman year (The only freshmen to be on varsity that year), Danny showed from an early age that he had the potential to be a leader on the field and he has grown into a phenomenal player throughout his four years. Danny has also separated himself off the field and in the classroom. He sets the gold standard of what we look for in a Malvern Prep student. A quiet, humble leader. His teammates and classmates gravitate to his energy. Danny has always given his absolute best effort and he will always be someone our staff points to on how to do things the right way! I thoroughly enjoyed coaching Danny for his time at Malvern and know he will succeed at Notre Dame and beyond! -Matt Mackrides, Lacrosse
Danny Riely is the kind of player every coach hopes to have in their program. He brings a true throwback mentality every single day; tough, selfless, and willing to do whatever it takes to help his team win. It’s been a privilege to watch him grow from a young freshman into a standout two-sport athlete as a senior. As a captain, he led by example and earned the respect of his teammates through his consistency, accountability, and leadership. He set the tone in everything he did, both on and off the field. Even more impressive than his ability on the field is the person he is off of it. Danny comes from a tremendous family, and that foundation shows in his character, leadership, and work ethic. He represents everything you want in a student-athlete. -Dave Gueriera, Football
Sebastian Small - Springside Chestnut Hill Academy
Sports Played: Golf / Lacrosse ©
College Attending: Quinnipiac University - Lacrosse
I am incredibly grateful to receive this award from Springside Chestnut Hill Academy and the Inter-Ac League. I owe so much of my success to my parents, coaches, teachers, and teammates for shaping me into the athlete and man I am today. The Inter-Ac is unique; you go toe-to-toe with the best in the country, yet walk off the field with lifelong friends. They say 'iron sharpens iron,' and there’s no better environment to prove that. My favorite memory remains my sophomore year—putting up 5 points in a win over Episcopal in one of my first varsity starts. That game hooked me on the league’s contagious energy. It’s an honor to be recognized alongside such talented individuals. Roll Devs, all day every day! Thank you! -Sebastian Small
Every once in a while, coaches are fortunate enough to have a multi-sport athlete join their team. These athletes often bring the work ethic and determination from their primary sport and apply it to a new challenge. Not only do they improve quickly as they develop strong fundamentals, but they also inspire their teammates to strive for their highest level of performance.
I’ve been fortunate to have Sebastian Small as one of those rare student-athletes over the past two seasons on the varsity golf team.
Sebastian led by example both on and off the course. He showed up early, stayed late, and earned the respect of his teammates through his consistent improvement and his role as an integral contributor to our team score. His dedication and growth were recognized when he was named our Most Improved Player this past season.
It comes as no surprise that he has been selected as an Inter-Ac League Athletic Director Award winner. Sebastian truly embodies what it means to be a student-athlete. Congratulations, Sebastian! Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors! -Francis Vaughn, Golf
Sebastian may not be the biggest player on the field, but he is one of the toughest and most determined competitors to come through our lacrosse program. A two-year team captain, he led not only with his voice, but with his actions, setting the standard every day through his work ethic, consistency, and commitment to improvement. Sebastian is the type of player who never takes a day off; his dedication in the offseason is a direct reflection of his drive to be better for himself and for his teammates.
His toughness is evident in every aspect of his game. He embraces physical play, competes relentlessly, and never backs down from a challenge. More importantly, his leadership has had a lasting impact on our program. Teammates look to him for accountability, energy, and example, and he consistently delivers.
Off the field, Sebastian is a respectful and grounded young man who represents our program the right way. He has earned the opportunity to continue his academic and athletic career at Quinnipiac University, and there is no doubt he will bring the same toughness, leadership, and work ethic to their program. Sebastian has been an integral part of our team’s success and leaves behind a strong legacy for those who follow. -Brian Dougherty, Lacrosse

She has been committed to making AISXC a better team and has been integral as a captain in building a tight knit community. -Steph Hogan, Cross Country
Grace is both an extraordinary captain and supportive teammate for the Spring Track Team. Her leadership and communication skills make it seem like we have another coach on the distance squad and as a senior she has worked to be one of our best runners. As she heads off to college, we will miss Grace for the many ways she makes our team better. -John O’Brien, Cross Country and Track & Field
